Deck The Halls (And Your Website, Too!)
The holidays are upon us... so now's the perfect time to steal some of Santa's spotlight! How? Grab customers by their boot strings and give your entire web presence the old "Gingerbread Treatment."
Here are some tips on quick changes you can make to your website to put them in the holiday mindset and showcase your festive offerings.
Your Homepage
Dress up your homepage with a festive holiday banner to put instant eyeballs on your seasonal offerings. Are you running sales and promotions? Add more than one image to make a slick scrolling banner. It's an easy way to add some quick holiday cheer to any custom or marquee page!
The Store
If you're selling products online, make sure to have a section dedicated to holiday sales and gift items. Tag featured or "sale" items, then link guests straight over to that category. (Click here to find out how!)
Remember: the easier you make it for customers to find your products, the faster they'll order them. You can even make sidebar "ads" for your interior pages and blogs. (If
Your Blog
Speaking of blogs, now's the time to talk up your holiday business. (It's the busy season, so get busy!)
Promote sales and give people a peek into your sessions. Inspire customers by talking about cool photography settings and what to wear. Talk about gift ideas or whatever will get your customers interested.
When you're done writing, be sure to cross-promote blog posts on social media to get more traffic and exposure. (Need more ideas for holiday blogs? We've got you covered.)
Social Media
Once you've festooned your website and blog, it's time to ramp up social media.
Feature your best work on Facebook and Instagram. Tag people in your photographs to encourage likes, shares, and comments!
Run "exclusive" promotions just for your followers to make them feel special and reward them for following.
Make a Pinterest board filled with your holiday themed photography to get people excited about your studio and thinking about their own sessions.
Twitter is built for real-time, so make it work! Post daily or "last minute" mini-session openings on twitter to create excitement – maybe offer a coupon to the first person who responds!
While your social media program is rolling, be sure to send out some holiday marketing emails.
Email Marketing
Send out coupons or exclusive discounts. Let clients know about special events or session openings. If you'd like some tips on creating email campaigns, we've put together a quick-start guide to help you send great emails for the holidays.
And last but not least, think about doing some offline networking and promotion by maybe hosting a special event or holiday party for your best clients.
Customer Outreach and Retention
Queue up the music, set out some refreshments, and put together a holiday-themed photo booth. Your clients will appreciate the opportunity to get out and do something fun... and you get a chance to network and remind people of what a great photographer you are! (Maybe make some sales, too!) Plus, you can get people thinking beyond the holidays and start pre-booking sessions for the new year.
